What to Bring Fly Fishing

Whether you’re a first-timer looking to cast into Colorado’s Gold Medal waters or an expert fly fisherman or woman, our Colorado fishing trips can help you learn to reel in a big one. And while you’re wading in the Blue River or floating along the Colorado River, it’s important to have the right fly fishing equipment as well as the proper clothing. On all our Colorado fishing trips, you’ll be spending time outside, so you’ll want to be prepared for high country weather.

What to Wear on Your Colorado Fishing Adventure

• We provide the waders, but make sure to wear long pants on your fishing trip.
• No matter the weather, try to wear clothing made from woven materials such as wool, polypro, fleece, micro fleece, polyester and any other outdoor material that dries fast. If it’s hot, these materials breathe and help keep you cool. And if it rains, you stay warm so you can concentrate on fishing!
• Wear a hat and sunglasses on all Colorado fly fishing trips. At altitude, the sun is intense and can burn skin, even if it’s cloudy.
• Closed-toe shoes (no flip flops or sandals) will help keep you comfortable on your fishing trip.

We take care of all the fishing gear! Rods, waders, flies and PFD’s (if necessary) are included in all fishing trips.

What to Bring on Your Colorado Fishing Adventure

• Bring a rain jacket in case the clouds roll in; rain is no reason to cut your fishing trip short!
• If you’re unsure of how many layers to wear, bring extra clothing and keep it in the van.
• Bring sunscreen to keep in your pockets. The sun is intense, so you may want to re-apply throughout the day.
• We provide lunch on the full day and a snack on the half day, but you may want to bring your own snacks to eat anytime during your fishing trip.
